I took your pictures down today
Just wanted to say...this started out as a poem. Then started sounding like a song. Maybe I can get some help making it to music..?
I took your pictures from the wall
I didn't know that we would fall
When the heart ache came to me
I just could clearly see
There was no reason to have had them there
We were in a bad way from the start.
Another man held your heart
I fought the best I could and I knew that I would lose right from the start
But I fought any how, I gave it my best, I held you to my chest
and still it wasn't good enough
One day you disappeared.
You said you couldn't see the forest from the trees
I told you from the start that I would never leave you cold
but then I was the one that was left alone

I took your pictures down today
And I looked to the sky to pray
I finally let you go,
I just wanted you to know
Your pictures came down today
We had the best times of all
When we were together, our backs against the wall
We said we would never fall
and we held hands through it all
I know that time was against us
I know there were miles between us
But you didn't let me take the fight,
you never let me bring you light
You ran away because it was too hard
When you lay your head down to sleep
You will always have my heart to keep.
You say you aren't happy where you are
and I just cant help you from this far
You know I would take it all on my shoulders
You were never alone with me there.
You were covered, you were protected
But you left the safety, you left too hasty,
why did you have to go into the dark
I am here, I have the light,
I am here, ready to step up and fight
For your love, for you heart, for the us that never had a chance
